Welcome Back to top
Welcome to our 6th Grade Science Class with Mr. Brown!  Our class is one of two sections of 6th grade science at Madison Middle School in the Madison Local School District in Madison, Ohio

What is RockaBrain.com?  Back to top
The purpose of RockaBrain.com is to share and enhance our classroom learning by organizing and communicating what we do and learn online.  We want science students from our community and from around the world to learn from our experiments, projects, findings, and other work  Whether or not you are a member of our class, you will find many useful science resources and fun activities on this site.  Have fun.  Let it Rock Your Brain!

Materials Needed for Class  Back to top
   * A 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch three ring binder (any color)
   * 5 section dividers
   * Filler paper
   * Highlighter

Notebook Setup  Back to top
Our class notebooks will not only be used as a resource for reviewing class material but also as a portfolio of your progress and growth in science.  Be sure to keep a neat, up-to-date, and very organized binder!  Below is an outline of how your notebook should be set up and a brief description of each section.

Section 1...Packet
Here you will keep your science packets for each unit.  You will be given your packet at the beginning of each unit.  This packet is very important because we will use it just about everyday, and you will be graded for the work you do in it.

Section 2...OOCA
You will keep your OOCA's in this section.  OOCA (pronounced "oo--ka") stands for "Outside Of Class Activity."  During each grading period (9 weeks), you must complete 4 OOCA's.  See page 35 to see what to do for OOCA's.

Section 3...Other
Papers that don't belong in any other section of your binder go in this section.

Section 4...Paper
Here you will keep extra loose leaf paper.  Be sure that this section always contains extra paper.  If you see you are running low, please replenish it.

Section 5...
This section divider is blank and is used to protect the paper from getting folded or ripped in the rings.  This blank section divider should be the last thing in your binder.
